Tips for More Effective Influencer Marketing
With more and more people using ad blockers and trading radio and live television for streaming services, advertising is not as effective as it once was. Working with influencers, however, is a great way to reach new customers and increase your audience. Many consumers like to look to their role models and peers for advice on what to purchase.
What is Influencer Marketing?
Influencer marketing is when someone with a strong following promotes your products or services. This is similar to a celebrity endorsement, but it can include anyone from an Instagram fitness model to a fashion and beauty YouTuber to a podcast host.
So once you’ve decided to pursue influencer marketing, here are a few tips to think about:
1. Do your research.
Take the time to find the best influencers in your niche. Take a look at their previous posts. Make sure they would be a good fit for your brand. Don’t overlook influencers who may not have a huge following if they are a good fit for your brand. If they are reaching the target audience for your brand, they are a good influencer for you to reach out to.
2. Run a giveaway or contest hosted by the influencer.
Contests and giveaways are an excellent way to get your brand out there and gain followers. You want to have the rules of the contest or giveaway ask participants to follow your brand, follow the influencer, and tag a friend in the comments. This gives you the maximum amount of exposure.
3. Post a roundup on your blog.
Create a list on your blog related to your niche like “The Top 10 Instagram Fashion Models” or “10 Underrated YouTubers.” You can then reach out to everyone on the list and mention that you’ve featured them. They are likely to share your post with all of their followers. It can also give your brand more exposure.
4. Compensate your influencers.
While some influencers will work with brands for free products or services, it’s usually a good idea to pay your influencers well. A general rule of thumb that many brands follow is $100 for every 10,000 followers (per post). If you pay a bigger influencer, it may help you to get smaller influencers to work with you as the bigger influencers will be able to vouch for you.
5. Don’t expect overnight results.
It may seem like influencer marketing is a quick way to success. It can be very effective. However, it can also take time. While an influencer who is popular can expose your brand to a lot of different followers at once, it will take persistence and time to convert these people into customers.
You should definitely give influencer marketing a try. It can be incredibly effective, and most brands aren’t doing it yet.
